juvenile justice
The Juvenile Justice program is an expansion of Higher Aspirations and is dedicated towards serving youth that are system-impacted in Santa Clara and San Benito County in three areas:
- Academic course offerings within detention centers and alternative high schools.
- Transition into campus programming.
- Access to wrap-around supports providing basic needs such as food, transporation, shelter, books, and mental health support.
The program aims to help students through high-touch case management, personal, academic, and career counseling, access to internships and apprenticeship opportunities, peer mentoring, academic course offerings, and direct support servces.
Gavilan will work with these continuation schools and juvenile halls in both counties:
- San Benito County Juvenile Hall
- Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall
- San Andreas High
- Mt. Madonna High
- James Ranch
- Central High
